On February 27, 2019, Jacquelon Gaskin and her two children, Gianna and Giovanni, lost their lives to an unimaginable act of violence—an act of family annihilation committed by Jacquelon’s partner of 13 years after she made the courageous decision to end the relationship. Their tragic loss shattered a family and echoed a harsh truth about domestic violence.Amidst the grief and devastation, Jacquelon’s family embarked on a journey to understand the complexities of domestic abuse. They discovered a startling reality: Women of color experience domestic violence at rates 35% higher than other women, yet they are the least likely to report abuse or receive community-based support. This revelation fueled a mission not just to seek justice but to ignite change.

 

From this pain, Our 3 Memorial Foundation, Inc. was born—to honor the lives of Jacquelon, Gianna, and Giovanni by empowering communities to recognize the earliest signs of domestic violence and prevent intimate partner violence before it escalates.Our logo serves as a powerful symbol of hope and remembrance, inspired by the three crosses placed in the front yard of Jacquelon’s home—the very place where their lives were tragically taken. These crosses stand as a tribute to their memory and as a call to action to break the cycle of violence through education, awareness, and proactive prevention.
